La Serena. Chile.
On the beach, about eight hours north of Santiago,mi, in front of the old lighthouse. It is Chiles second oldest city, founded in 1544 and has a church on just about every corner.
Some amazing architecture in this place and fabulous museums, not to mention the loco fruit and vegetable market. plucked up the courage amongst the masses to haltingly buy avocados, tomatoes, spinach and
              other vegetarian type yummy goodies.
              Mmmm mangos!

  1. Most excellent :) I've google mapped La Serena and your other travels. It's great to see where you have been.
Glad to hear you can be understood, especially buying vegetables etc. I'd have ended up with shoes and a stapler with my Spanish.
I hope you have a bath to eat your mango in. What has the accomodation been lilke?
    Love ya, Red xox

P.S. Maybe I am part robot, I find the code you have to decipher in order to publish almost impossible to read.

    1. hola mi hermana. Si mi espanol es still lamentablemente!
Chilean Spanish is apparently loco, and i tend to agree with that. now that im in Argentina. Salta, its getting a little easier, or perhaps my ears are slowly tuning in to the lingo. repetition is the key, and despacio... slowly. bought a kids reading book a couple of days ago and could translate just about all of the dialogue on the first page....the gato con botas....the cat with boots. bueno. accommodation has been great, even though im on the cheap end of the scale, neat, clean, have learned to through the toilet paper in the bin and not down the loo (think that's aging infrastructure), some mattresses you just get to sleep between the springs. the hostel im at here in Argentina has bidets in every loo, had a go the other day, it would be over 20years since i had a play on one of those.first time in a dorm room, have shared with a Canadian woman and that wasn't so bad, just two of us in a four bedroom. have been doing individual room, not really into the mass sharing, but decided to economize the last two days. off to Tucuman tomorrow. love you lots xoxoxo
